To get your first breathing style, you need to reach Level 5 and have 1,000 Yen. Find a breathing trainer like Rengoku (Flame Breathing) north of the Starting Village. Talk to him and pay the fee to learn your first style. Each breathing style has unique moves and stat bonuses.
